Manage Colourways and Upload Per-SKU Product References

Add SKUs to a catalog, upload per-colourway product references, understand readiness statuses, and manage shared style and model identity references.

Each colourway in a catalog is an independent SKU row with its own product references. Before generation can include a colourway, it needs at minimum a front and a back product photo. Once those are uploaded, Gemini preflight runs automatically and — if successful — marks the colourway ready for generation. You can add colourways at any time while the catalog is in a draft, completed, or failed state.

Front and back product references are required for every colourway. A colourway without both uploads is excluded from generation regardless of how many other reference slots are filled. Upload them before scheduling to ensure the SKU is included in the run.

Adding colourways after creation

If you need to add more SKUs to an existing catalog after it was created, open the catalog detail page and scroll to the Step 2 · Product truth section:

1. In the Add colourways textarea, paste one SKU, Colour Label entry per line — for example:
   T45-Bubbly-Pink, Pink
   T45-Bubbly-Green, Green
   
2. Click Add colourways. The new rows appear in the colourway list immediately.

The same comma, pipe, or tab separator rules from the creation form apply here.

Uploading references per colourway

Each colourway has its own set of product reference slots. To upload references:

1. Click a colourway row in the list. The inspector panel opens on the right side of the screen.
2. Click each reference slot to open a file picker and select an image. Images are automatically resized to 1280px before upload.
3. Each successful upload triggers Gemini preflight for that colourway automatically — no separate action required.

Standard garment reference slots

For all categories except saree:

Colourway readiness statuses

The status badge on each colourway row shows where it is in the intake-to-generation pipeline:

Ready	Blue	Front and back uploaded; Gemini preflight pending or in progress
Gemini analysis ready	Green	Preflight complete — product identity and five-pose plan confirmed; colourway will be included in the next run
Gemini preflight running	Blue spinner	Gemini is currently analyzing the product references and building the five-pose plan
Analysis will retry before generation	Red	Preflight failed; the system will retry automatically before generation starts
Generating	Blue	This colourway is currently being generated by the batch worker

Failed	Red	Generation failed; use Retry in the inspector (available when the catalog has a locked consistency anchor)

Shared style and model references

Shared references live at the catalog level and apply to every colourway. They appear in the Step 1 · Creative direction section at the top of the catalog detail page.

Style references

Upload up to three shared style or scene references — editorial photos, location shots, or mood board images that establish the backdrop, composition, and lighting for the entire batch. Gemini uses these only for scene and creative direction; they never override the individual product truth of a colourway.

To add a style reference, click Upload reference in the Creative direction section and select an image. To remove one, hover over it and click the trash icon.

Model face reference

Upload one clear face photo to lock every colourway in the catalog to the same model identity. This works identically to Studio’s model face lock — the uploaded photo is saved as the model identity reference for the entire catalog, and every colourway’s generation uses it as the subject anchor.

Leave this empty if you want the system to design and self-lock its own consistent model (the same behavior as before this feature was introduced).

To upload the model reference, click Upload model face in the Model face lock section. To remove it, hover over the thumbnail and click the trash icon.

Catalog-wide Styling Plan

After the first colourway completes Gemini preflight, the system proposes a catalog-wide Styling Plan — a set of footwear, jewellery, and accessory decisions derived from the analyzed product and shared references. The Styling Plan appears in the Catalogue styling plan section.

How the Styling Plan affects generation

The Styling Plan is applied identically to every SKU in the catalog. Approving it tells the generation worker to use those exact accessory and styling choices for all five poses across every colourway — you review and approve once rather than per-SKU.

If you upload a new style reference or model reference after the plan has been approved, the plan is reset and requires re-approval before generation can start. Editing the plan without approving saves a draft but does not unblock generation.

Generation is paused for the entire catalog until the Styling Plan is approved. A yellow warning banner in the Styling Plan section reads “Generation is paused for this catalog until the plan is approved.” Review the proposed footwear, jewellery, and accessories, edit anything the AI suggested, and click Approve and start generating to unblock the queue.

The Styling Plan is proposed from the first analyzed colourway and the shared references. Upload your style references and the model face reference before the first colourway’s front and back — that way, the proposed plan reflects the full creative context from the start and needs fewer edits.
